Robb wins state again

Aralleno places third, Vowers takes fifth

Derek Robb was crowned a 2-time state champion at the CenturyLink Arena in Omaha, last weekend.

Robb defeated Billy Higgins of Omaha Skutt Catholic by fall in 5:56.

Leading up to his championship match, Robb had to work his way through several competitors.

In round 1 he defeated Jean-Marie Djidjoho of Mount Michael Benedictine.

He followed by defeating Jacob Pinkerton of Beatrice in the quarterfinals. Robb defeated Kole Gray of Plattsmouth by major decision in the semi finals.

Also wrestling for Sidney was Trey Arellano. Arellano had to fight his way through the consolation rounds to place third.

Arellano took third in the 106-pound weight class division. He started the tournament with a win over Jarrett Cline of Mount Michael Benedictine. He went on to defeat Chase Larsen of Plattsmouth in the quarterfinals.

Arellano lost to Walker Moore of Blair in the semi final round. In his first consolation round, Arellano rallied to defeat George Hernandez of Scottsbluff. He wrapped up his tournament with a win over Chase Larsen of Plattsmouth to place third.

At 113 pounds, Kaden Vowers won his first round against Trason Snower of Seward. Vowers lost in the Quarterfinals to Andrew Nielsen of Plattsmouth forcing him into the consolation brackets. Vowers defeated Trevor Holley of Gothenburg, and then went on to the third round of consolation to win against Broc Hall of Bennington.

Vowers lost to Van Schmidt of Omaha Skutt Catholic. Vowers won his last match against Nolan Barry of Adams Central by injury default to place fifth.
