The case against a Sidney woman charged with 21 counts of burglary continues to makes its way through the courts.
Mindy Richmond is the woman charged with committing a string of burglaries in Cheyenne County in 2014-15. She was arrested June 11, 2015. Richmond's lawyer, James Korth, appeared via telephone in Tuesday's status hearing and said there are "a substantial amount of discoveries." He also stated that there are preliminary talks of a plea deal. Korth asked for a continuance.
Nebraska Assistant Attorney General Doug Warner appeared as prosecution for the state and said he did not object to the motion for continuance "as long as it is fairly soon." District Court Judge Derek C. Weimer oversaw the proceedings and ordered the case continued to 9:30 a.m. on March 2 in Cheyenne County District Court.
Weimer cautioned that the proceedings were getting close to the speedy trial deadlines and asked that the timeframe was looked into and possible discussion for waiving a speedy trial.
