Big second quarter leads Storm past Garden County

Creek Valley poured in 26 second quarter points as it went on to a 59-45 win at Garden County last Friday.

The Storm (10-7) led 11-9 after the first quarter and took a 37-16 halftime lead.

Samantha Schmid led the team offensively with 14 points. Jessie Straber added 10 points and Payje Misegadis scored nine points. Andi Ortgies led the Storm with 11 rebounds, while Misegadis added eight. Straber also had a team-high eight assists and six steals.

Creek Valley returns to the court Friday at Leyton.

Potter-Dix 52, Minatare 22

Potter-Dix kept up its winning ways on Saturday with a 52-22 win over visiting Minatare.

The Lady Coyotes (13-2) jumped out to a 28-2 first quarter lead and rolled to the win.

Brooke Glass and Alexus Rozelle led the team with 12 points each, while Anna McLaughlin added nine points. Cortney Lewis led the Lady Coyotes with 10 rebounds, while Langley added eight. Dawson Sharman led the team with four steals.

The Lady Coyotes return to action Friday when they host Garden County.

Leyton 35, Minatare 10

Crawford 37, Leyton 34

Leyton split a pair of games over the weekend, winning against Minatare and falling to Crawford.

The Lady Warriors (8-7) went up 22-1 over the Lady Indians (0-12) in the first half en route to a 35-10 win.

In Saturday’s game, Crawford (12-6) outscored Leyton by four points in the final quarter to come back to defeat the Lady Warriors, 37-34. Leyton led by a point at halftime and carried a 29-28 lead into the final quarter.

Statistics were not available at press time.

Leyton is back in action Tuesday with a home game against Sedgwick County.

Prairie 43, Peetz 37

Peetz 66, Pawnee 22

Peetz split a pair of road games over the weekend. The Lady Bulldogs dropped a narrow game at Prairie on Friday, then rolled to a big win at Pawnee on Saturday.

Prairie (11-3) took the early lead and held off Peetz, 43-37, on Friday. The home team went up 18-12 in the first quarter and held off Peetz (3-11) to win.

Cami Thompson led the Lady Bulldogs offensively with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor. Mikenna Curlee added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Jodie Schumacher also had eight points for Peetz.

On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 66-22 win at Pawnee.

Statistics for Saturday’s game were not available at press time.

Peetz is back in action Friday with a game at Briggsdale.
