Josephine F. Lang, 98 of Littleton, Colo. and former Sidney resident, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the Restore Health and Rehab Center in White Plains, Md.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30 with Wake Services at 6 p.m., Tuesday evening, Dec. 29. Both services will be at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Josephine's care and funeral arrangements.
Josephine was born on Jan. 23, 1917, in Sidney, the daughter of Peter and Carrie Ehmke Beyer. She was reared on the family farm north of Sidney. In 1942, she married Thomas G. Lang and farmed North of Sidney until 1963, when she moved to Washington State, where she became a correctional officer at the State Correctional Facility For Women in Purdy, Wash. Upon retiring, she moved to Littleton, Colo. in 1991.
Josephine is survived by her son, Howard and wife Laurie Lang; daughter, Mary Jo Cumberland and Jim Ondrish; daughter, Sherie Lang; grandchildren, Tracy Cumberland and Brad Frey; Kevin Goff and wife Rohana; Steven Lang and wife Kelly; Denise Harrington and husband, Michael; Stephanie Herrington and husband Mark; Renee Hughes and husband Chris; sister, Ella Mae Mills; sister in-law Shirley Beyer; and a host of great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents Peter and Carrie Beyer; sisters, Agnes Gavin, Mildred Johnson, Mary Moe; brothers, Andrew and Leonard Beyer; Daughter in-law Margaret A. Lang, son-in-law, Edward Brothers and grandson, Toby Williams.
