The Peetz girls’ basketball team took a loss on Wednesday night as Haxtun beat up on the Lady Bulldogs, 62-17, in Haxtun.
With the non-league loss, Peetz drops to 2-3 overall, though they still maintain a three-way, 1-0 tie with Fleming and Prairie for first place in 1A-North Central standings.
Only two Peetz players scored any points against Haxtun; Jodie Schumacher added 11 points off three buckets and five free throws and Mikenna Curlee scored six points off three deuces.
Turnovers were a huge factor in the Peetz loss as Schumacher and Payton Swedlund combined for 22 giveaways.
Defensively, Schumacher evened-up with Tyra Foreman to lead in rebounds with four, while Curlee snagged three. Schumacher also logged three steals and an assist.
Next up, the girls will host league foe Prairie tomorrow night. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
The Peetz boys’ team also fell to Haxtun, 61-42, though stats for the game were not reported by deadline.
The boys’ team will face Prairie tomorrow night at home starting at 7 p.m.
