The Sidney High School One Act Play Production team finished fourth in the district contest held Saturday at Chadron State College.
Even though the Raiders finished fourth, they had the most acting awards of any school competing at the Class B-6 District Play Production Contest.
All 11 of Sidney's eligible cast members in the play, "The Addams Family," were recognized by the three judges for acting honors. Winning outstanding performance award certificates were: Josh Austad, Abbie Fraas, Jakob Austad, Jocilyn Hessler, Will Castner, Jonathon Stokes, Megan Neal, Mitch Verhulst, Davis Burch, Rachelle Swain and Jordan Cook.
Sidney received three high superior ratings and finished fourth in the contest behind champion Ogallala, runner-up Gordon-Rushville and third place Chadron. Finishing in fifth through eighth place were Chase County, Alliance, Valentine and Mitchell.
Only the first place play, performed by Ogallala, advances to the Class B State Play Production contest. It will be held Friday in Norfolk.
