Jung named to elite AVCA player list

OMAHA – Sidney High School freshman Payton Jung has been identified by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as an elite rising high school volleyball player – and has been named to the organization's AVCA Phenom List.

The list is comprised of underclassmen who have received recognition for their outstanding play.

Jung will attend the 2015 Phenom program Dec. 17-20 in Omaha and will attend educational sessions regarding recruiting and life as a college athlete, interact with AVCA Collegiate All-Americans, undergo Volleyball Performance Index testing and participate in the AVCA talent showcase.

As a freshman for the Lady Raiders, Jung has amassed numbers far above the national average in all statistical categories; she recorded a stellar 295 kills, 36 aces, 56 total blocks and 90 digs in her first year playing for Sidney.

The athletes in the showcase will demonstrate their skills in front of 200-plus college coaches in attendance.

This showcase is an "invitation only" event and players have to be specifically identified and invited.

In addition, the athletes will attend the NCAA Division I Final Four tournament.
