Safeway donates 43 turkeys to food pantry

Safeway in Sidney donated 43 turkey dinners with side items to Sidney's Table of Grace Mobile Food Pantry Tuesday morning.

The Sidney store raised nearly $2,100 from local customers that was used for the turkey dinners. According to Safeway employees, they are thankful for all of the customers who helped make this donation possible for families in need this holiday season.

Timm Lindeman, food pantry director, said the food will be spread out over the holidays.

"Food will be given away in the next day or two, but we will also use much of the donations to make Christmas food baskets," Lindeman said. "We usually give around 100 food baskets during Christmastime."

The Table of Grace Mobile Food Pantry began in Sidney at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. It has since expanded to Potter, Oshkosh, Lodgepole and Chappell. The Table of Grace Mobile Food Pantry distributes food at the various locations on a monthly basis.
