Possible funding for water augmentation projects at Oliver Reservoir Recreation Area (ORRA) were discussed at the Nov. 10 South Platte NRD Board of Directors (Board) meeting.
The board approved working with Olsson Associates on the Oliver Reservoir Water Project for a proposal to utilize Platte Basin Coalition funding and to help satisfy terms of the Platte River Recovery and Implementation Program, along with requirements of the Ground Water Management and Protection Act and provisions in the IMPs and Basin-Wide Plan.
The proposal will expand on the 2001 Oliver Reservoir hydrology and hydrogeology study prepared by Olsson Associates, would evaluate and include possible implementation of alternative solutions to augment the water supply to Oliver Reservoir.
The board also approved to contract with Olsson Associates to complete a Water Sustainability Fund application for continued work on the Western Water Use Management Model (WWUMM), developed and maintained by Adaptive Resources Inc. and Thad Kuntz, principle hydrogeologist, to continue to assist the efforts to refine and update the district’s ground water modeling, analysis and information. The WWUMM is one of the tools used by the board to set irrigation allocations and make decisions on other projects within the South Platte NRD District.
In other action, the board
• Approved a request from High West Energy to work with South Platte NRD staff for right-of-way easements through portions of ORRA to build a tie line and straighten an existing line.
