One of the best parts about moving to Nebraska is not just the level of performance on the football fields of high schools across the state and at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, but how the fans, players, coaches and parents take it seriously.

It's downright close to a religious experience.

Which is something good for me; while Northern California high schools and colleges also live for Friday nights and Saturday afternoons, the pure fervor of rabid fandom are mainly absent. It usually ends up being a case of "cross your fingers and hope you win."
