Sidney, Potter-Dix, Leyton earn top seeds in volleyball playoffs

By virtue of having the highest wild-card point total, the Sidney High School volleyball team earned the No. 1 seed and home-court advantage at next week’s District B-8 tournament.

Sidney (15-15) will take on No. 4 Scottsbluff (11-18) at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The other semifinal pits No. 2 Alliance (13-17) against No. 3 gering (15-21) at 5:30 p.m.

The championship match is set for 7 p.m.

In the D2-11 subdistrict bracket at Bridgeport High School on Monday, Potter-Dix (23-3) earned the top seed and a first-round bye to go with it. No. 4 Banner County (4-19) will meet No. 5 Minatare (1-22) at 4 p.m. with the winner taking on the Lady Coyotes at 7 p.m. In between, the other semifinal will be played between No. 2 South Platte (8-13) and No. 3 Garden County (2-22) at 5:30 p.m.

The championship is slated for Tuesday at 6 p.m.

In the D1-12 subdistict at Prairie View School in Ogallala, No. 1 seeded Leyton (22-8) will swuare off against No. 4 Creek Valley (12-12) at 5 p.m. The other semifinal pits No. 2 Dundy County-Stratton (17-13) against No. 3 Morrill 13-15) at 6:15 p.m.

The title match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
