The Sidney High School volleyball locked down a big win against district-rival Gering on Tuesday night at home.
The Lady Raiders topped the Bulldogs in four sets, 25-18, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17.
Sidney improved to 12-14 overall and inched closer to securing the right to host the District B-8 tournament on Nov. 3. The school with the most wildcard points among the B-8 teams – Sidney, Alliance, Gering and Scottsbluff – hosts the event that comes with an automatic berth into the state tournament.
Freshman Payton Jung led the Lady Raiders with 14 kills, and teammates Annalise Lecher and Maddi Porter provided 12 kills apiece.
Natalie Radcliffe registered three aces and Jasmine Jallen added two. Setter Emily Mahr had 38 assists and a pair of aces.
Gering slipped to 14-17.
Sidney is back in action on Saturday at the six-team Dig Pink Tournament at Alliance. It will play No. 6 seeded-Scottsbluff and No. 2 seed Dundy County-Stratton in pool play beginning at 10 a.m. at the high school.
