Nineteen people were killed in traffic accidents on the state’s roadways during September, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Roads. There were 27 fatalities on the roads in September 2014.
Last month, the 19 fatalities occurred in 18 crashes. In those accidents, 13 of the 14 vehicle occupants who died were not wearing safety belts. None of the fatalities occurred on interstate roads, with 10 happening on non-interstate highways and nine on local roads. Six of the fatalities occurred involved vehicles that overturned.
