STELLAR SEASONS: Sidney M.S. volleyball teams combined for 23-1 record

The Sidney Middle School eighth-grade volleyball team beat Scottsbluff in straight sets on Monday night to complete an undefeated season at 12-0.

The seventh graders also defeated Scottsbluff in straight sets and concluded their season with an 11-1 record. Their only setback was a three-set loss to Sterling on Sept. 22.

"For the third consecutive year, we have had an undefeated team at the middle school level," said Jack Thorpe, Sidney Middle School volleyball coordinator and coach of the seventh-grade squad. "We have had only a handful of losses the past five years, and our coaching staff takes a lot of pride in knowing all of our teams are fundamentally sound."

The combined record of 23-1 for the two teams includes two tournament championships during the season.

The eighth graders are coached by Barb Snyder and Judi Roach. The seventh-grade coaches are Thorpe and Karsen Dingman.
