The Creek Valley High School volleyball team crossed the border into Julesburg, Colo., on Thursday night and dropped a match in straight sets to the Sedgwick County Cougars in a non-district matchup.
The Storm (5-3) battled the Cougars (3-3) with a strong defensive effort, but came up short in straight sets 17-25, 20-25, 19-25.
The Storm had 18 team blocks with Jessie Straber and Chandra Smith leading the way with five each.
Payje Misegadis blocked four shots. Straber also had 24 digs to pace the Storm while Joey Straber had 14.
Four Creek Valley players had 10 digs each including Misegadis, Samantha Schmid, Smith and Katie Burch.
Offensively, Schmid and Joey Straber went error free with their service game. Schmid had 15 atttempts and Straber had 11.
The Storm will be in Sutherland on Tuesday for a triangular that will also include Perkins County. The action gets underway at 5 p.m. CDT.
