Levi Hallett, 27, formerly of Sidney, was sentenced last week in the U.S. District Court-District of Nebraska.
He was sentenced to the Bureau of Prisons for a term of 27 years of imprisonment, followed by 15 years of supervised release with special conditions.
Last September, Hallett was charged in a three-count indictment by a federal grand jury. The charges included production, possession and receipt and distribution of child pornography. In May, Hallett's case was transferred to federal court.
He struck a plea deal with federal prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to production of child pornography in exchange for a dismissal of the other two charges.
A search of Hallett's Sidney apartment-after an informant reported Hallett admitted he had received nude photographs from girls aged 15, 14 and 9 on his cell phone-resulted in the seizure of his phone, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Hallett confessed to possessing around 40 images of underage nude children, and to taking some of the photographs himself.
He pleaded guilty to Count I on April 17. Counts II and III were dismissed. He must also pay a $100 special assessment.

Wow. Didn't know they gave these guys that kind of time. I hope our civil servants in town and county get a slice of justice, too.
