Evelyn Marie Hadden was born on March 9, 1922 on a farm north of Lodgepole. She lived there with her parents, Hadda and Francie (Niemann) Hadden for 7 years. The family also included a brother, Albert and sister, Edna. Eventually, the family grew by 3 more, a sister, Leora, and 2 more brothers Donald and Leroy. The family then moved to a farm 4 miles north of Sunol. After graduating, the Hadden girls moved to Sidney to work. They lived together and Evelyn worked at the dime store and McDonalds Department store.
On Nov. 10, 1948, Evelyn married Leslie Louie Christensen. They moved to a farm south of Lodgepole and welcomed their only child, Linda Marie. After 9 years, Leslie had a fatal heart attack and Evelyn and Linda were left alone. They moved to Sidney and Evelyn worked for Federal Crop Insurance for 27 years.
Evelyn loved her yard and flowers and could always be found working outside in her flower beds. After 57 years in her home, she moved to Sloan Estates for 16 months and had recently moved to the Sidney Regional Extended Care. She especially loved her 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Katrina. She spent countless hours with them playing cards or just talking. Ryan walked to Grandma's for lunch every day from the time he entered 7th grade until he graduated from high school and Katrina developed a love for cross stitch by watching Grandma do crocheting and embroidery.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gerald Berlage of Sidney; her grandchildren and their families, Ryan (Theresa) Berlage, Grace and Ella of Prosper, TX and Katrina (Elbert) Babilonia, Ethan and Mia of Oviedo, Fla. She is also survived by one brother Leroy Hadden of Bridgeport; one sister-in-law Charlotte Hadden of Sidney and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leslie, two sisters Leora Jones and Edna Schlaman and, two brothers Albert Hadden and Donald Hadden.
