The Sidney Red Raiders made the long trip to Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte on Friday well worth the ride as they came home with the team title.
The Raiders finished with 380 strokes to edge out runner-up Ogallala, which finished at 389. The strength of the field was evident as six of the nine teams broke 400. Millard West (392), McCook (392), Cozad (397) and North Platte (398) were the others.
In addition to earning the team gold medal, Sidney had two individual medalists. Emma Alexander, who won the Western Conference championship last week, finished third with an 87. Megan Neal carded a 94 to finish ninth. Though Rachel Blauert recorded a 95 to equal the 10th-place score, she missed out on a medal due to a scorecard playoff.
Taylor Parsons and Paige Langley also had strong performances as each finished with a 104.
Sidney has another long road trip on Tuesday. The Raiders will compete in the Chadron Invite beginning at 9 a.m.
