Storm volleyball team posts two W's

The Creek Valley High Storm volleyball team had little trouble dispatching its first two opponents of the 2015 season in a home triangular on Thursday evening.

The Storm throttled Minatare (0-2) in straight sets 25-5, 25-7. Creek Valley then upped its early season record to 2-0 by turning back Banner County 25-10, 25-12.

Creek Valley’s Chandra Smith helped stymie the Lady Indians with 11 aces in 16 serve attempts. Freshman Faith Michelman added seven aces of her own as the Storm combined for a total of 23. Smith also added five digs to lead the team.

Against Minatare, Jessie Straber pounded home six kills, while Payje Misegadis added four and Joey Straber three. Joey Straber also put in a strong defensive performance as she led the squad with seven digs while Katie Burch and Jessie Straber each had five.

The Strom are back in action on Tuesday for a triangular at Morrill at 5 p.m. Arthur County will also compete.
