Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
The Foster Grandparent Program and Commodity Supplemental Food Program at Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska will be sponsoring a “Hygiene for Humanity” toiletries drive from Sept. 7-11. It is being held in conjunction with the Sept. 11th National Day of Service.
The public is being asked to donate any unused toiletry items to be given to the elderly in this valley at boxes located at the CAPWN offices, 3350 10th St. and 975 Crescent Drive in Gering. The local schools ESU 13, and volunteer sites where foster grandparents serve, are also participating with drop-off boxes at most locations.
Proceeds from these unused toiletries items will be distributed to the elderly citizens that participate in the CAPWN Commodities Program and the rest will be given to the pantry for families in need.
Both programs are looking for more participants in their programs. For more information please call Cathy Schumacher, foster grandparent manager, at (308) 633-3348 or Chris Holcomb, commodities coordinator, at (308) 635-7298.
