Rita Ann Bennett

1925 to 2015

Rita Ann Bennett was born April 14, 1925 and died on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015 at home in Omaha.

Rita was born and raised in Dalton. She lived in Fort Collins, Colo.; Sidney; Cheyenne, Wyo.; and her last 10 years in Omaha. She and her husband of 47 years, Gene Bennett, raised their 4 children in Sidney. She worked for the Union Pacific RR, St. Patrick's School in Sidney, and retired from AT&T in Cheyenne. She was an active volunteer in all her church parishes. She loved being a grandmother and took pride in meeting her great grandchildren and bragging about all of them. She was an avid reader and completed a lot of puzzles in the last year.

She is survived by family all over the United States including her 4 children Kathleen (Bill) Howard, Jack (Joyce) Bennett, Jill (Jay) Stoffer, and Glen (Debbie) Bennett. She has 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Additionally she is survived by her sisters: Marcella Wheeler and Marie Fraass, and brothers: Joe, Cyril, Don, and Jim Henke.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 at St. Gerald's' Parish in Omaha located and 96th and Q. An inurnment will be at a later date in Cheyenne. Memorials will be directed by the family. Bethany Funeral Home at 8201 Harrison LaVista, NE 68128 is in charge of arrangements.
