1940 to 2015

George A. Sherman Jr., 74 of Potter, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. Cremation has taken place at Dugan Kramer Crematory. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at Prairie West Church in Potter with Pastor Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Memorials may be given to Potter Ambulance Service. George was born Nov. 12, 1940 at St. Joseph, Mo. to George Sr., and Ruby (Portfield) Sherman. He entered into the United States Marines in 1958 and honorably served our county until his honorable discharge in 1963. He was united in marriage to Nancy Kling on Dec. 24, 2002 at Torrington, Wyo. and made their home in Potter.

George enjoyed collecting toy semi's and all county music.

George is survived by his wife Nancy; two step sons Mark Shaw of Stamford and Patrick Iliff of Kearney; one step daughter Shauna Shimmin of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents.
