The driver of a tractor-trailer died Saturday morning after a single-vehicle accident off I-80 east of Sidney.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle accident at 9:37 a.m. Saturday. The driver of the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on I-80 when he lost control of his vehicle.
The truck went across the median, crossed the eastbound traffic lanes, proceeded up a large embankment and crossed County Road 125. It came to rest in a nearby cornfield.
The driver was identified as Kenneth O. Berry, 47, of Pomono, Calif. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and an autopsy was ordered.
A passenger in the tractor-trailer was ejected and airlifted to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
Other agencies responding to the scene included the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, Emergency Response Care of Sidney, Emergency Management and AirLink. The investigation is continuing.
