Wilma "Joyce" Blome

1930 to 2015

Wilma "Joyce" Blome, 85 of Ft. Collins, Colo., passed away on August 2, 2015 in Loveland.

Born May 9, 1930 in Cordell, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Maurine and James Oliver Edwards, of Hobbs, N.M. She is survived by 4 children: Rita Blome Hood, Curtis Blome, Brian Blome (wife Becky Blome) and Marilyn Blome Cook (husband Randy Cook), as well as 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Joyce Blome graduated from Hobart High School, Hobart, Okla., in 1948. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University for two years before transferring to the University of Oklahoma in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in 1958. She taught school in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and Nebraska for a total of 14 years, with a brief period as an airline hostess for Braniff Airlines in Dallas, Texas.

While she was teaching in Lakewood, in 1962, she met Rollin E. Blome, of Sidney. The couple was married on October 31, 1964 in Hobbs, N.M. They lived in Sidney for 20 years before retiring in 1986 and moving to Fort, Collins. Rollin preceded her in death in 1992.

Joyce was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins. She is also an active member of Chapter HD, Fort Collins, P.E.O. Sisterhood. She enjoyed her church and P.E.O. activities, spending time with friends and family and gardening. Known for her friendly nature and thoughtful demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, she was a woman of constant nurturing love and faith. Her gifts of giving and joy will never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, August 7 at 2 p.m. at 1st Presbyterian Church, 531 S. College Avenue, Ft. Collins, CO. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.
