Mary Ann R. Olsen, 90 of Sidney and former Laramie, Wyo. resident, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Sidney.

To honor Mary Ann's wishes, no formal services will be held. Cremation has been held. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Ann's name to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or the Sidney Regional Medical Center Hospice.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of local arrangements. Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home in Laramie is handling the Wyoming arrangements.

Mary Ann Olsen was born in Elgin, Neb. on February 26, 1925 to Herman and Helen (Drueke) Ridder. She received her education at St. Boniface School in Elgin, graduating in 1943. She attended Telegraph School in Omaha for three months following graduation to qualify for a Telegraph Clerk job on the Union Pacific Railroad. Ladies held many of the positions while the male operators were in the service during WWII. Mary Ann first worked in Rock Springs for four years and later in Rawlins. While in Rawlins, she met Harold Olsen, a UP Fireman and later Engineer. They were united in marriage on June 2, 1950. They made their home in Laramie where Harold passed away on April 21, 2000. Mary Ann lived in Laramie until May 16, 2007 when she moved to Sloan Estates Assisted Living in Sidney and later moved to the Golden Living Center. While in Sidney she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Mary Ann is survived by her sister: Darlene Josten of Sidney and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband four brothers and three sisters.
