David Lee Swanstrom

1960 to 2015

David was born March 24, 1960, to Elroy D. and Shirley L. (Braye) Swanstrom in Hastings. On June 8, 2015, Sidney childhood resident, David Lee Swanstrom, 55, passed away in Nebraska City.

The Swanstrom's lived for a brief time in Kimball before permanently relocating to Sidney. David was an active student-athlete, member of Sidney First UMC, and a 1978 graduate of Sidney Public High School. He attended Kearney State College, graduating with a degree in psychology and sociology. Upon relocating to the Kansas City metropolitan area, he attended graduate school while working for Citicorp.

David was married in 1980 to Annette (Backhus) Swanstrom of Morrison (Ill.); second to Linda Swanstrom of Hastings; and on June 13, 2003 to Marsha (Hass) Swanstrom of Milligan at the Good Samaritan Village's All Saints Chapel in Hastings. David and Marsha had been residents of the Nebraska Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Omaha and, recently, were relocated to the Golden Living Center at Nebraska City to receive assisted living and skilled nursing support. Within a month of David's death, the family learned of Marsha's death on July 8, 2015. She will be buried near her parents, Renye J. and Lenora J. (Kupka) Hass, in the Bohemian National Cemetery at Milligan in Fillmore County.

David is survived by his mother, Shirley, of Sidney; older brother Nick and wife Cheri of Sterling (Va.); younger sister Pam (Swanstrom) (Wilderman) Kerns and husband Bob of Lincoln; nephews and nieces, Brent Wilderman of Omaha, Kitska (Swanstrom) Garrison of Warrenton (Va.), Alicia Swanstrom of Sterling (Va.), and Jacob Wilderman of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his father, Elroy, who died Feb. 15, 2002.

A Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Thomas G. Hyde, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Sidney First United Methodist Church (UMC) and a luncheon held thereafter.

Inurnment will be on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the Nora Cemetery (situated 1.5 miles south of Nora in Nuckolls County). The Megrue-Price Funeral Home, 750 N.
