SCOTTSBLUFF – Coaches, parents, school administrators, student athletes and health care providers can attend one of two upcoming presentations about concussion injuries on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Regional West Medical Center.
The free presentations by Dr. Peter Meyer, Air Link medical director and emergency department physician, and Chief Flight Nurse Tracy Meyer will take place from 7-8 a.m. and again from 4-5 p.m. in the Scotts Bluff I meeting room at Regional West.
The presenters are both nationally known speakers who are passionate about bringing the most current information to those who need it to improve health care at its most basic level. Their presentation, “Is Your Head In It?” helps raise awareness about concussion injuries.
The Concussion Awareness Act affects all schools with athletes 19 or younger and sports organizations, including youth leagues and club sports. It requires that coaches receive training about concussions, that athletes with signs or symptoms of a concussion be removed from play and that such students provide written clearance from a licensed health care provider to return to play
The presentations are free and open to the public. Continuing education hours will be awarded.
For more information, contact Tracy Meyer at (308) 631-5187.
