The Sidney Legion Post #17 seniors team has been seeded fifth among the six teams playing in the Class B, Area 7 district baseball tournament that starts July 24 at Legion Field in Sidney.
Sidney will open tournament play against No. 2 Chadron on Friday, July 24 at 7 p.m. The other first-round games will pit No. 1 Ogallala vs. No. 6 Alliance at 1 p.m. and No. 3 Gering vs. No. 4 Hershland at 4 p.m.
The double-elimination tournament runs daily from July 24-28. Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The winner advances to the senior state tournament in Cozad later this month.
Meanwhile, the Sidney juniors will open district play Friday (today) in Gering. Seeded No. 4, Post #17 will square off against No. 3 Alliance at 4 p.m. The other opening-round games are No. 1 Chadron vs. No. 6 Hershland and No. 2 Ogallala vs. No. 5 Gering.
Districts for the juniors runs through Tuesday, with the winner moving on to the junior state tournament in Bennington beginning on Saturday, July 18.
