Sidney's Danz team earns bid to nationals at camp

The Sidney High School Danz Team participated in the National Dance Alliance camp at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., and earned a trip to nationals in Florida with its strong showing.

Coached by Krissy Fry and Alisha Miller, the dancers were able to compete as individuals and as a team, perform their routines and learn new techniques are routines during their time at camp.

Hannah Rapp, Shayla Domstead, Kollyn Weimer, Julia Evertson and Drew Stiles were nominated to try out for the All-American Team. To earn a spot on that team, the dancers are judged not only on their skills but also, spirit, showmanship, technique and leadership.

Weimer was selected by the NDA staff to be a part of the All-American Team.

Emma Tuzicka received a "Pin it Forward" pin from the NDA staff for having a great attitude, politeness, a high work ethic, leadership and friendship qualities throughout the entire camp. Tuzicka also received another pin for her to pass along to someone else in the camp that she though had the same qualities.

The red raiders dancers received 14 superior ribbons, 10 excellent ribbons, second place in their Varsity Team Intermediate/Advanced Team Routine performance, and superior and excellent ratings on their home routine as well as their team routine. The team also earned a spirit stick every day they participated.

Scoring a high rating qualified the team to the NDA National Dance Competition that will be held in Florida in February 2016.

The 2015-16 Sidney Red Raiders Danz Team includes: Rapp, Domestead, Weimer, Evertson, Stiles, Tuzicka, Kristina Davis, Samantha Wamsley, Adriana Falcon, Lauren Beatty, Megan Rapp, Devany Turner, Maddison Couch and manager Alia Jones.
