Dean J. Hecker, 95 of Sidney, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. The Patriot Guard Riders are invited to participate in his funeral service. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. There will be no Wake or Rosary Services.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1 to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dean's name to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Peetz Fire Department or the Grand Prairie Cemetery.

Dean Joseph Hecker was born August 3, 1919 to William and Minnie (Fischer) Hecker in Proctor, Colo. and resided in Peetz. He resided in Colorado and Sidney all his life, where he made his living by farming. Dean enjoyed music, building steam engines, and remodeling antique cars. Dean was always there with a helping hand. Dean served in WWII, in the 80th Infantry Division while being stationed in France. He served on the Peetz Elevator Board for 14 years and was also a member of the Peetz American Legion Post #134. Dean was married to Vera McGrane who with his parents were killed in a train accident in 1941. Dean was then married to Dolores Kuehler Nov. 24, 1954 who passed away in 1988. Dean was also preceded in death by his two brothers Lloyd and Donald. Dean is survived by numerous extended family and friends.
