West Elementary School in Sidney recently recognized its Presidential Education Award winners for the 2014-15 sixth-grade class.
Students earn the Gold Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence by maintaining a grade-point average of 3.5 and above for all of their fifth-grade year and for the first semester of their sixth-grade year. Students earn the Silver Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement by being nominated by the staff for showing marked improvement and extraordinary effort in their academic work.
Students receive a congratulatory message from President Obama as well as a certificate and pin.
