GERING – The Scotts Bluff National Monument will expand hours for the summer beginning this Saturday.
To better serve visitors, the summer hours at the monument will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Summit Road will be open for uphill traffic from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and the grounds will be open sunrise to sunset. These operating hours will last through Labor Day weekend.
Guest speakers will be present on Saturdays and rangers on Sundays at 3:00 p.m. this summer for an eclectic selection of programs. Topics will cover a wide variety of subjects from oxen to prairie grasses, from African American pioneers and entrepreneurs to the Donner Party.
A list of the programs is available at the monument. The programs are also on the events calendar on the park web page and will be announced on Facebook the week of the program.
