Sidney grad Rosenbaum qualifies for NCAA Div. II championships

Lucas Rosenbaum, a 2014 graduate of Sidney High School and now a freshman at Missouri S&T University, earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships to compete in the pole vault last weekend in Allendale, Mich.

Rosenbaum is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor champion and was runner-up at the league's outdoor meet. He established the Red Raiders' school record in the event at 14 feet, 3 inches last season – a mark he has already exceeded by better than two feet. Rosenbaum cleared a personal best vault of 16-3 1/4 at the Dewey Allgood Invitational earlier this season. That performance earned him the GLVC Athlete of the Week award.

The pole vault competition at the national meet is scheduled for this Saturday at Grand Valley State University. The action is scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m. MDT.
