Thursday, May 7
May 7th is National Day of Prayer. There will be open prayer from 7-8 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the gazebo in the Community Garden. All are welcome to come and pray for our government, military, media, business, education, church and family. At noon, there will be a united prayer that takes place across the country.
Friday, May 8
A dance for all 7th and 8th grade students, sponsored by Job’s Daughters to celebrate youth week, will be held at the Elks Lodge in Sidney on Friday, May 8 from 7-9 p.m. There will be a door charge. Pictures and refreshments will be provided. DJ music provided by MIB Music Productions.
Pairs-N-Half-A-Pair Square Dance Club will have a Sadie Hawkins Dance on Friday, May 8th at the IOOF Hall in Gering, from 7 to 9 p.m. with guest caller Marlin Spellmeyer from Ogallala calling. We will have PLUS dancing from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, May 12
A boating safety course will be held at Western Nebraska Community College’s Sidney campus on Tuesday, May 12 from 6-9 p.m. The course covers everything from equipment requirements to safe boat operation and accident prevention. Wednesday, May 13
The Sidney High School 2014-2015 “Evening of Excellence” will be held Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments in the commons area. The presentation of awards will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Students who have achieved excellence in their high school endeavors will be honored. The public is invited.
As part of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Panhandle Mental Health Center invites the public on Wednesday, May 13 from 1-3 p.m. to its office at 4110 Avenue D, Scottsbluff, for coffee with one of its mental health clinicians. Attendees can ask questions, learn about mental health problems and what treatment looks like.
Saturday, May 16
The 2nd Annual Kids Go Fishing Rodeo
will be held Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 a.m. at Cedar Vue (Gate 13) at Lake McConaughy. Free event for children ages 3-15.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Cancer survivor support group meets every third Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. at Dorwart Cancer Care Center. A variety of topics will be discussed and food is provided. Call Leslie at (308) 250-1113 with questions.
