Edna B. Sprenger, 88 of Sidney, passed away Sun., April 5, 2015 in Sidney.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sat., April 18, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tar Drazdowski officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel to sign Edna's register book and drop off condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Edna's name to the Christ Episcopal Church or the donor's choice. Edna B. (Caywood) Sprenger was born on Sept. 27, 1926 at Broken Bow, the daughter of Edward M. and Lily Grace (McCaslin) Caywood. She attended grade school at Senate Valley, a country school in Custer County. After attending her freshman year at Broken Bow High School she joined her family in Gurley and graduated from Sidney High School in 1944. For a brief time she worked at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Hull Cook and family.
On Dec. 3, 1944 she was married to Keith Sprenger in Denver and has since made her home in the West Sidney Draw. She had been a member of the Mutual Improvement Club since her marriage and for many years served as treasurer.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters: Shirley Koppisch and husband Ernie and Fern Heitz, sister-in-law: Joan Amsberry, brothers-in-law: Jerry Schoolcraft, Emmett "Mac" McElroy and Archie Howle.
Survivors include: (3) sons: Jeff and wife Marla, Greg and wife Margaret and Randy and wife Judy all of Sidney; (2) daughters: Nancy Bryan and husband David of Sidney and Susan Kinnison and husband Wayne of Ovid; (2) brothers: James Caywood and wife Virginia of New Mexico and John Amsberry of Florida; (5) sisters: Anna Schoolcraft of Gurley, Catherine McElroy and Eleanor Lafler and husband Robert of Sidney, Janice Howle of Florida and Eileen Muich of Virginia; (1) brother-in-law: Lawrence "Bud" Heitz of Nebraska; (10) grandchildren; (20) great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
