William "Bill" Wayne Christie died peacefully in University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus on Friday, March 27, 2015 in Aurora, Colorado, at the age of 54.
He is survived by his father Elton K. Christie of Chappell, his two daughters, Megan Christie of Chappell and Bailee Christie of Sidney, his six sisters and brother, Judi Christie of Cheyenne, Hildy and Kevin Blake of Julesburg, Mary and Doug Bundy of Plattsmouth, Beth Christie of Fort Collins, Dottie Kouba of Cheyenne, Teresa and Jim Wood of Cheyenne and Jon Christie of Pine Bluffs. He also leaves behind his life partner, Heather Smith, of Julesburg and stepson Travis, many nieces and nephews as well as three grandchildren which he adored. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Dorothy B. Christie.
Bill was born on Aug. 4, 1960 in Denver to Elton K and Mary Jane B. Christie. Bill moved with his family several times during his youth but always considered his home to be Denver. He eventually moved to Denver in 1977 and started working at Mountain High Tree, Lawn & Landscape shortly thereafter. He moved back to Nebraska in 1991 to raise his family. While working for Cabela's his coworkers encouraged him to follow his passion and he started Christie Tree Care in 1993.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at New Hope Fellowship, 402 Bates Boulevard, Lodgepole. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and the reception immediately to follow in the Sanctuary. Memorials can be sent to Heather Smith, 702 Pine Street, Julesburg, CO 80737.
