The Sidney Wrestling Club came home from the state championships in Grand Island last week with 15 medalists – including one weight-class winner.
In the 45-pound class for first- and second-graders, Dominique Boppre took home the gold medal.
Sidney also had four runner-up finishers, including Chance Houser in the 55-pound class for third- and fourth-graders, Landon Hanes at 95 pounds for third- and fourth-graders, Brady Robb among fifth- and sixth-graders at 112 pounds and Cash Arensdorf at 130 pounds in the fifth- and sixth-grade group.
A pair of Sidney Wrestling Club wrestlers earned a third-place medal including Corbin Barnes (40 pounds, first and second grade) and Austin Munier (65 pounds, fifth and sixth grade). Cauy Kohl finished in fourth among third- and fourth- graders at 70 pounds. Noah Canas (45 pounds, first and second grade) and Trey Arellano (95 pounds, seventh and eighth grade) both finished fifth. Easton Manke was sixth in the Pre K-K, 52- to 53-pound class.
Four from the Sidney Wrestling Club took home a seventh-place medal including Cayson Boltjes (51-52 pounds., Pre K-K, ), Austin Christensen (75 pounds and up, first and second grade), K.C. Higer (125 pounds, seventh and eighth grade) and Hunter Welling (220 pounds, seventh and eighth grade).
