1963 to 2015

Steven Craig Johnson, 52 of Augusta, Ga. and a former Sidney resident, entered into rest Sat., March 14, 2015 at the Georgia Regent Hospital in Augusta.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tues., March 31, 2015 in the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney with Pastor Doug Birky of the Sidney Evangelical Free Church officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the American Lung Association.

Steven Craig Johnson, Sr. was born March 12, 1963 in Sidney where he was raised and attended school. He studied welding at Southeast Community College and continued on to earn both an associate and a bachelor degree in applied sciences and technology. He acquired a level 3 certificate in all areas of nondestructive testing and inspection. Steven spent most of his career inspecting and maintaining nuclear power plants, however with Steven's credentials and reputation he was able to work for some of the most successful corporations including Rolls Royce, General Electric and Duke Energy. In 2010, he was honored by NASA as a recipient of a Group Achievement Award for nondestructive testing and evaluation of a composite crew module project.

Steven is survived by his wife Michele of Augusta, Ga.; his children: Michelle Fecteau of Waterville, ME, Stephanie Johnson of Augusta and Steven (Bub) Craig Johnson, Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; step-children: Marcus, Daniela and Luka Vogel; his parents Clifford Mons and Donna (Craig) Johnson of Sidney; his siblings: Terri Rauscher, Shannon Carver and Scott Johnson all of Sidney; and five beloved grandchildren: Hannah, Aubry, and Whitney Fecteau and Carter and Domani Lacy.

Holechek Funeral Home and Cremations in Sidney is serving the Johnson family.
