CHAPPELL, Neb. – There are numerous scholarship opportunities available for Creek Valley High School students. All applications can be obtained from guidance counselor Kathy Ford.
They include:
• Lodgepole Volunteer Fire Department scholarship for graduating seniors from the Creek Valley. Criteria include consistent commitment to school and non-school volunteer activities and/or community organizations. Deadline is April 1.
• The Karman Reichman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating Creek Valley senior. Deadline is April 20.
• The Chappell Rotary Club will present two $500 awards to graduates who are attending their second, third or fourth year of college or technical school. The applicant must have a 2.0 or “C” grade-point average. Special emphasis is placed on community involvement and continuing volunteer participation. Deadline is April 11.
• LeRoy and Rebecca Clark and their family established a scholarship in 1985 for a student who is a Creek Valley graduate, entering the second year of college majoring in science, math, engineering or related filed of study. Student must have maintained a B average for the first two semesters. Deadline is April 16.
• The Creek Valley Education Association scholarship is awarded to a Creek Valley graduate currently in college. Preference given to students in the education field with the intent to pursue a teaching career. Deadline is April 16.
• The Chappell Volunteer Fire Department will give a scholarship to a student pursuing a career in the public safety area, which includes criminal justice, firefighter or emergency medical technician/paramedic. Applicants must be a graduating senior from the Creek Valley High School or a CVHS graduate who is an underclassman in college. Deadline is April 11.
• The Golden Fleece Lodge #205 will award a scholarship. Deadline is April 2.
• The Whitley Ann Peterson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a Creek Valley student who has been nominated by a peer, a community member or a teacher. Deadline is April 25.
• The Jacob J. and Anne B. Walter Educational Trust scholarship will be award to a Creek Valley graduating senior who has a “C” grade-point average. Deadline is April 10.
• The McGrale Educational scholarship is awarded to a former Creek Valley student enrolled at a post-secondary school. Students majoring in math or English will be given preference. Deadline is April 15.
• The Floyd H. Stahr Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the lifetime Chappell resident and graduate of Deuel County High School. His family created this $350 scholarship to help a Creek Valley student achieve his/her plan of a higher education, preferably in the areas of agriculture or public safety. The application deadline is April 10.
• The Margaret Sick Dutton Scholarship is memory of her 40 years of service to education and the Chappell School District and surrounding areas. The award is granted in hopes of encouraging the recipient to enter the education field. Deadline is April 11.
• The Antelope Valley Pheasants Forever Chapter will award a $500 scholarship to graduating seniors from Creek Valley and Garden County high schools. Deadline is April 7.
• The Mullen John Widdowson Scholarship will award $1,000 to a Creek Valley senior. Deadline is April 15.
• The Luceba Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star will award a scholarship based on good citizenship and high moral character. Deadline is April 1.
• The Lynda E. Cabela Scholarship, established by the Jerome C. Cabela family, will be awarded to a graduating or former Creek Valley student pursuing a college degree in the field of business. Deadline is April 10.
