McCOOK, Neb. – Tyson Culek from Kimball advanced to the American Pool Players Association's (APA) 8-Ball National Singles Championships in Las Vegas in April after winning his skill level tier at the Nebraska Singles Regional Championship held over the weekend at TJ's Family Fun Center in McCook.
More than 60 players from all over Western Nebraska qualified to play in the two-day event in McCook and the top seven players advanced to the National Tournament in their respective skill level tiers in 8-Ball and 9-Ball.
Roger Krafczik from Kimball took second place in his skill level tier, collecting a cash prize for his efforts.
Both Culek and Krafczik are active in Sidney Pool Leagues as well.
Players advancing to the APA National Championships in Las Vegas receive a generous travel allowance and complimentary lodging at the Riviera hotel-casino, site of the APA National Championships.
Once at the national event, Culek will compete with others in his own skill level tier for a share of $280,000 in cash and prizes, including $15,000 for first place.
