2015 Minuteman Athletic Conference Speech Contest: Potter-Dix brings home MAC title

MINATARE – More than 125 students from across the Panhandle competed last week during the Minuteman Activities Conference Speech Contest. Schools that competed included Banner County, Bayard, Creek Valley, Garden County, Leyton, Minatare, Potter-Dix and South Platte.

Potter-Dix went home with the conference title, accruing 112 sweepstakes points at the event hosted by Minatare High School. Finishing in second place was Leyton with 62 points, followed by Bayard with 50 points.

Potter-Dix had individual champions including Bekah Hutchinson in Persuasive and Poetry; Audrey Juelfs in Humorous along with Justice Palmer and Kevertt Rusk in Duet Acting.

Other champions included Megan Gifford of Banner County in Informative; Aaron Schrotberger of Leyton in Entertainment; RyAnne Blau of Bayard in Extemporaneous; Jesse Straber of Creek Valley in Serious and Leyton's Oral Interpretation of Drama (OID) consisting of Abbe Draper, Jack Houk, Aaron Schrotberger, Kelsey Miller and Cheyenne Nickel.

Many of the schools that competed at the MAC Tournament will perform again Saturday during the Small Schools Invite at Hemingford followed by district contests. In Paxton on March 16, Leyton, Minatare and Potter-Dix will compete. Meanwhile, the Creek Valley speakers will compete in North Platte that day.
