Court Briefs 02-24-15

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Thomas Schmidt, age 24 of Chappell, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of DUI 1st, a class W misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty to DUI 1st, a class W misdemeanor and received a $500 fine and 6 months in jail.

Linette Kinnersley, age 50 of Council Bluffs, Iowa, appeared for sentencing on a charge of DUI 1st Offense and Refusal of a Chemical Test, both class W misdemeanors. She pleaded guilty to the Refusal of a Chemical Test, a class W misdemeanor. She received a $500 fine and 7 days in county jail.

Corey Speer, age 44 of Sidney, appeared for entry of plea on charges of DUI 1st, Refusal of a Chemical Test, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing, a class W, W, I and I misdemeanor; respectively. He pleaded not guilty. Pre-trial conference set for March 23.

Matthew Cleays, age 31 of Morrill, appeared for a pre-trial conference on a charge of DUI-D, a class W misdemeanor. A telephonic hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 25.

Corbin Coomes, age 25 of Sidney, appeared for entry of plea on a charge of DUI 2nd High Test, a class W misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty. Pre-trial conference set for March 23.

Gary Vannatter Jr., age 26 of Sidney, appeared for a preliminary hearing on a charge of Distribution of Marijuana within 1,000 feet of a playground, a class II felony. The case was bound over to district court. Arraignment was scheduled for March 10.

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Monday Feb. 23, 2015, before the Honorable Randin R. Roland:

Nicholas Reinhart, age 24 of Sidney, appeared, with counsel, in custody of the Cheyenne County Jail for Pre-trial Conference on two counts Domestic Assault Third Degree, a class I misdemeanor. Reinhart entered a plea of no contest to Count II. Count I was dismissed. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation to include a Substance Abuse Questionnaire and Substance Abuse Evaluation. Sentencing is scheduled for April 13. Request for bond reduction was denied.

Melissa Nienaber, age 23 of Nebraska City, appeared, with counsel on a charge of Domestic Assault Third Degree, a class I misdemeanor. Pursuant to a plea agreement, Nienaber entered a plea of no contest to a charge of Assault in the Third Degree, Fight by Mutual Consent, Class II Misdemeanor. Nienaber was sentenced to pay a $100 fine plus court costs.

Paul Lucero, age 38 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on charges of Assault in the Third Degree, a class I misdemeanor; Criminal Trespass-Second Degree, a class III misdemeanor; and Disturbing the Peace, a class III misdemeanor. Lucero waived counsel and entered a plea of guilty to all counts. Lucero was fined $500 for count I and to serve two days in the Cheyenne County Jail with credit for two days previously served; $100 for count II and $100 for count III plus court costs.

Tracy Fulton, age 49 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Assault in the Third Degree-Fight by Mutual Consent, a class II Misdemeanor. Fulton waived counsel and entered a plea of no contest. Fulton was sentenced to pay a $50 fine plus court costs.

Tori Branch, age 52 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Assault in the Third Degree-Fight by Mutual Consent, a class II Misdemeanor. Branch waived counsel and entered a plea of guilty. Branch was sentenced to pay a $50 fine plus court costs.

Matthew McNally age 23 of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Theft By Shoplifting, a class II Misdemeanor. McNally waived counsel and entered a plea of guilty. He was fined $50 plus court costs.
