1942 to 2015

Jerilynn M. "Jeri" Childers, 72 of Sidney, passed away Thurs., Feb. 5, 2015 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tues., Feb. 10th in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Hall officiating. Cremation will follow with graveside services at a later date. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Jeri's name to the American Heart Association or the Dorwart Cancer Care Center in Sidney.

Jerilynn Margaret Childers, the daughter of John Harvey and Juanita Louise (Benedict) George, was born on May 23, 1942 in the Taylor Hospital in Sidney. She grew up twelve miles west of Sidney and enjoyed helping on the farm as she grew older. Jeri was right at home on a tractor raking hay and alfalfa for her father during haying season. She attended Brownson Elementary and graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1959. Following graduation Jeri continued to pursue her love for ballet and later became a dance instructor and had her own dance studio. She earned her Associate's Degree from Western Nebraska Technical College.

On July 31, 1977, Jeri was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee Childers in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney. She worked at Dinklage Feed Yard for fifteen years and also enjoyed designing flower arrangements at the House of Flowers. Jeri enjoyed her grandchildren, teaching dance, fishing, hunting, camping, College and Professional Football, especially the Cornhuskers and Broncos, quilting and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her husband: Ken Childers of Sidney; (2) sons: Jeff Maddox and wife Donna of Sidney and Jarrod Maddox and wife Ruby of Casper, Wyo .; her sister: Jean Rauert and husband Bill of Kimball; (7) grandchildren: Sarah Clark and husband Aaron of Gering, Matt Maddox of Lincoln, Amber Vraspir and husband Ben of Lincoln, Josh Maddox of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lacee Maddox of Casper, Wyo., Jefferey Maddox II of Sidney and Halie Maddox of Casper; (6) great-grandchildren: Abbigail, Zakkaria, Benjamin, Parker, Branson and Camden; her mother-in-law: Ioan Childers of Sidney; sister-in-law: Korla Keller of Bassett, Neb .; brothers-in-law: Jim Childers and wife Kris of Alliance, Mike Childers of Denver, Brian Childers of Cheyenne, Phillip Childers and wife Wendy of Gurley and numerous extended family members and many friends. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents: Harvey and Juanita George and her father-in-law: LeRoy June Childers.
