The Panhandle NE National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors his accepting applications for two $500 scholarships to be awarded in April.
Applicants must be 2015 graduating seniors attending an accredited high school in Western Nebraska, have an above-average GPA, demonstrate good character and leadership in school, church and community and be planning to further his/her education after graduation. Preference will be given to candidates interested in courses of study including education, business, management, finance, marketing, sales or actuarial studies.
In addition, preference will be given to those who will be attending a Nebraska university, state or community college. Children of NAIFA members are not eligible to apply.
Applicants are not required to show financial need and selections are not based on consideration of age, sex, race, creed or disability. Personal interviews may be requested. Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the college or university to be applied to the recipient’s tuition.
Applications can be obtained from any Western Nebraska high school senior class counselor, or by contacting scholarship chairperson Robin T. Hirsch at (308) 633-1174 or [email protected].
The application process is not lengthy or complicated. Completed applications are due by March 1.
Scholarships funds are raised during the group’s Annual Lew Zemanek Memorial Golf Classic, which was established in 2008. The NAIFA-Nebraska Foundation Zemanek Endowment – funded with proceeds from Golf Classics since 2008 – has now reached $10,000, which generates the second $500 scholarship.
