On the strength of a dominant fourth-quarter performance, the Leyton Lady Warriors erased a third-period deficit to topple Hay Springs 35-25 on home ground Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors advanced their record to 4-5 while the Lady Hawks slipped to 2-6.
Junior Diedra Waite was the only Leyton player to crack double figures with 13 points. Dani McKay and Kaitlyn Berner each had five while Shaela Jenkins and Abbe Draper contributed four apiece.
Leyton trailed the Hawks 19-15 entering the final eight minutes before they exploded for 20 points to win going away.
The Warriors will host a tough Bridgeport (6-4) team on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Peetz 34, Merino 31
The Peetz Lady Bulldogs rescued their weekend with a 34-31 win over the Merino Rams on Saturday after being stopped by Briggsdale 52-30 on Friday.
The Bulldogs (4-5, 1-2), were led by Cami Thompson's 10 points against Briggsdale. Jodi Schumacher chipped in with five points. Mallori Bjerke collected seven rebounds while Schumacher and Whitney Christian each had five.
Christian was the high scorer for Peetz in the win over Merino with 11 points while Schumacher had eight. Jennifer Gutierrez had seven points. Christian added six rebounds to her night's work and Bjerke collected five.
Peetz has another league contest on Friday night when they travel to Fleming for a date with the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.
Creek Valley 82, Minatare 14
The Creek Valley Storm (4-4) girls' basketball team criused to its third consecutive victory on Saturday with an 82-14 victory over the struggling Minatare Lady Indians (0-6).
Sophomore Jessie Straber had an impressive shooting night by making 12 of 15 field-goal attempts. Straber finished the game with 28 points. In all 13 Storm players scored inlcuding freshmen Payje Misegadis with 12 points and Samantha Schmid with eight.
Creek Valley will host Haxtun (Colo.) on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m.
