An assistant manager at a local store along with his girlfriend were arrested after an alleged theft at the business.
According to Sidney Police Chief B.J. Wilkinson, officers were called to the Family Dollar Store on 10th Avenue on Dec. 8 for a report of a theft from a safe.
Employees who had arrived for work that morning told officers that the front door of the business was unlocked, as were the safe and a cigarette case. Money and inventory were missing, according to the police report.
Through an investigation, it was determined that one of the store’s assistant managers, Michael Anderson, 21 of Sidney, had been the last one to leave the store the night before. It was also determined that his girlfriend, Judy Aguas, 29 of Sidney, had also been present at the time of closing.
Warrants were issued for both suspects. They were arrested late last week in Durango, Colo.
They face charges in Colorado and then will be extradited back to Nebraska to face charges here.
The investigation is continuing jointly between Sidney Police, Durango Police and the Cheyenne County Attorney’s office.
