Sidney man arrested after dispute with 16-year-old

A Sidney man was arrested and charged with terroristic threatening after allegedly pulling a knife and a gun on a 16-year-old during a domestic dispute.

Scott H. Atkins, 56, was charged with making terroristic threats, use of a weapon and child abuse after the incident last Friday night at a residence in the 1100th block of 7th Avenue.

According to police, Atkins allegedly produced two different knives and a small caliber handgun during the argument with the juvenile. Several Adults who were on hand during the argument supported various claims of the story, police said.

Prescription drugs and alcohol were suspected to be factors, police said. The knives and firearm were seized as evidence along with various items in the home. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The Sidney Police Department is continuing its investigation, according to chief B.J. Wilkinson.
