Christmas Kickoff on tap for Saturday in Hickory Square

The annual Christmas Kickoff and Tree Lighting will begin at 12:30 p.m on Saturday in Hickory Square.

“This really focuses on Downtown Sidney,” said Chamber representative Heather Hausmann. “It should bring people out in the to admire their downtown and Hickory Square.”

Free hot chocolate and hot cider will be provided by Huck Electric and Financial Partners. The event is sponsored by the Historic Downtown Sidney Main Street Program, the City of Sidney, the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce and the Sidney Jaycees.

“This is something for families to do together,” Hausmann said. “It’s a great way to visit the downtown area. It’s also free of charge – a family event people can take part of without a fee.”

This event coincides with “Small Business Saturday,” an event that focuses on promoting small businesses nationwide.

Immediately following the Parade of Lights, Santa arrives for the lighting of the tree. Following the Tree Lighting, Santa will meet with the kids at the Sidney Elks Lodge at 1040 Jackson St.
