Black Friday, one of the most anticipated days of the year, is around the corner and has Sidney businesses gearing up for a huge influx of customers.
The two largest stores in Sidney – Walmart and Cabela's – know that they have a huge task on their hands and are prepared to satisfy customers.
"There's tons of people who come out every year," said Cabela's Marketing Manager Connie Carrillo. "We're excited for this event and we'll have a great time. We'll be out with the people in line making Smores and boiling hot dogs."
The doors are scheduled to open at 5 a.m. The first 600 customers in line will receive envelopes with random tickets containing information on prizes they will win once the step through the doors. The potential prizes will include a Browning A-Bolt 3 Rifle, Champion Power Washer, Zeiss Terra Riflescope, Masterbuilt Smoker, Bushnell Truth Range Finder, Nikon Prostaff 5 Binoculars, Cabela's gift cards and more. Customers must be 18 years or older. Firearm winners will be required to complete a standard federal background check to take ownership of the firearm.
"Honestly, the people and the service separate us from competitors," said Cabela's Manager Rodney Davidson. "The facilities are top notch, as well as our service employees."
There will be a multitude of customers in line, and Cabela's seems to be ready to handle those customers to give them a great Black Friday experience.
"We've been doing this for a long time," Davidson said. "We've got it down to a science. We'll run traffic different to accommodate the number of customers. The lines will be long, but they'll move fast."
Walmart, a very popular destination for consumers on Black Friday, will also be prepared to meet its customers' needs.
Walmart will have numerous deals. They have split their Black Friday experience into three events. Event number one starts at 6 p.m. Thursday, and shoppers will be able to get items such as a 50-inch flat screen for $218 and an RCA tablet for $29. Event two starts at 8 p.m. Thursday. Shoppers will have a chance to purchase items such as a 60-inch Element flat screen for $298. Event three will start at 6 a.m. Friday and will have numerous amounts of Walmart merchandise available for customers.
"The lines will start outside at 4 p.m.," said the Sidney store manager Andy Lopez. "We know a lot of people will be here for this event and we'll be prepared to properly serve them."
