Gary W. Stratton of Sterling, Colo., was promoted to the rank of major in the U.S. Army.
Stratton is currently serving as an executive officer with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Ill. He has served in the military for 21 years.
Stratton is the son of Judith K. Banks of Mt. Vernon, Texas, and Gary W. Stratton of Cedar Hill, Texas; step-son of Judy P. Stratton of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Wayne P. Banks of Mt. Vernon, Texas; brother of Susan J. Reeves of Mt. Vernon, Texas; grandson of Naomi Stratton of Waco, Texas; nephew of William P. Lane of Lubbock, Texas; and husband of Ammie J. Stratton of Sterling, Colo.
He is a 1990 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, Texas. He earned a master's degree in 2009 from Webster University, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
